Heat Pump Advice From Heat Geek

Heat Geek Accredited Installers in Surrey

What does Heat Geek Accredited mean?

Heat Geek is the UK’s leading training and accreditation programme for heating professionals. Becoming accredited isn’t easy, it means passing tough exams in heat loss calculations, hydraulic balancing, flow temperatures, and smart control integration.

While many installers can fit a system, a Heat Geek understands how to design it properly so that it runs at its most efficient. That means your system won’t just function, it’ll perform at its best. The result? Lower bills, improved comfort, and peace of mind that your setup is built to last.

Heating System Design

Every home is different. We design the complete heating system around your property, rather than simply choosing a heat pump and making everything else fit around it.

Heat Loss Calculations

We don’t guess how much heat your home needs. Detailed room-by-room heat loss calculations help us correctly size your heat pump and design a system that keeps every room comfortable.

Hydraulic Balancing

A well-designed system needs to deliver the right amount of heat to every room. Hydraulic balancing helps ensure water flows correctly around your heating system, improving comfort and helping the heat pump operate efficiently.

Flow Temperature Optimisation

Heat pumps perform best at lower flow temperatures. We design your system to provide the heat your home needs while keeping temperatures as low as practical, helping improve efficiency and reduce running costs.

What is a ZeroDisrupt Heat Geek installation?

A heat pump isn’t simply a replacement for your boiler. To work at its best, the entire heating system needs to be properly designed around your home.

That’s where Heat Geek and ZeroDisrupt come in.

As a Heat Geek Accredited Installer, EVO Heating & Renewables takes a design-first approach. We look at how much heat your property actually loses, how each room needs to be heated and how your radiators, pipework, hot water and controls can work together as one efficient system.

With ZeroDisrupt, that expert design is combined with a smarter approach to heat pump installation, helping make the move away from a traditional boiler simpler and more affordable.

What does that mean for your home?

Better comfort

Consistent room temperatures and reliable hot water, without relying on short bursts of high-temperature heating.

Smarter system design

No guesswork. Your heating system is designed around your property and its actual heat requirements.

Greater efficiency

Correct heat pump sizing and lower flow temperatures help your system perform efficiently throughout the year.

Expert installation

Your system is designed and installed by EVO's Heat Geek Accredited heating engineers here in Surrey.

Heat Pumps vs Boilers

What’s Right for Your Home?

For decades, boilers have been the standard way to heat UK homes. But with modern heat pumps, homeowners now have another option, one that can provide comfortable, efficient heating without burning gas or oil in the home.

A heat pump works differently from a boiler. Rather than generating heat by burning fuel, it moves heat from outside your home into your heating system. This allows a well-designed heat pump to deliver considerably more heat energy than the electrical energy it uses.

But there’s an important point: heat pump performance depends heavily on system design.

That’s why EVO takes a Heat Geek approach. We assess your home’s heat loss, radiators, pipework, hot water requirements and suitable flow temperatures before designing the system. We don’t simply replace a boiler with a heat pump and expect it to work in exactly the same way.

So, should you replace your boiler with a heat pump?

For many Surrey homes, a properly designed heat pump can be an excellent alternative to a traditional boiler. But every property is different.

EVO will help you understand what will work for your home, what changes may be required and what you can realistically expect from your new heating system.

HEAT GEEK FAQs

Your Heat Geek & Heat Pump Questions Answered

Thinking about a heat pump? Wondering what makes a Heat Geek installation different, or whether ZeroDisrupt could work for your home? These FAQs cover some of the questions we hear most often from homeowners across Epsom, Surrey and South London, from system design and running costs to grants, radiators and choosing the right size heat pump.

Heat Geek Accredited installers are trained to look beyond simply fitting a heat pump. At EVO, we consider heat loss, flow temperatures, radiator outputs, pipework, hot water and controls to design the complete heating system around your home.

ZeroDisrupt is Heat Geek’s approach to making the move to a heat pump simpler and more accessible. EVO is able to offer ZeroDisrupt installations, combining Heat Geek system design with a streamlined approach to upgrading your home.

Not necessarily. We calculate the heat requirement of each room and assess whether your existing radiators can provide enough heat at the designed flow temperature. Some may be suitable already, while others may need upgrading.

Weather compensation adjusts your heating system according to the outdoor temperature. Instead of always producing the same temperature water, the system can automatically reduce its flow temperature when less heat is required, helping improve efficiency.

Eligible homeowners in England and Wales can currently receive support towards qualifying heat pump installations through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. EVO can explain the eligibility requirements and how the grant fits into your proposed installation.

Flow temperature is the temperature of the water travelling through your heating system. Heat pumps generally become more efficient at lower flow temperatures, which is why correctly sizing radiators and designing the system properly matters.

We use detailed heat loss calculations rather than simply matching a heat pump to the size of your existing boiler. This helps us understand how much heat your property actually requires and select an appropriately sized system.

Hydraulic balancing helps ensure the correct amount of heated water reaches each part of your system. Done properly, it helps rooms heat more evenly and allows the system to operate more efficiently.

There isn't one answer for every home. Running costs depend on your property's heat demand, system efficiency, electricity tariff and how the heating is used. Good system design is therefore particularly important.

Many different types and ages of property can use a heat pump successfully. The important question is how the system should be designed for your particular home. EVO can assess your property and explain what, if anything, would need changing.
